    Beetham Tower – Case Study

    Top of the range glass vacuum lifters hired from GGR Group were used to replace glass units on Beetham Tower, Manchester’s tallest skyscraper and home to the Manchester Hilton hotel.

    To lift the 320-800kg glass panels of various shapes and sizes, the installation team used GGR’s popular Hydraulica 1200, MRTA611 and MRTA6 lifter models around the 168 metre tall landmark building.

    MediaCityUK – Case Study

    An Oscar 600 glazing robot hired from GGR was used to replace spandrel panels at this University of Salford building at MediaCityUK. This 600kg capacity robot is just 780mm wide so could easily work in the restricted access location.

    GGR’s mini spider cranes were used at MediaCityUK during its development, for example a UNIC URW-094 mini crane was used with a DSZ2 lifter to install glass whilst a UNIC URW-295 model was used to lift granite panels.

    GGR’s lifting solutions have worked at other locations in Salford such as The Lowry Centre, Lowry Hotel and the new set of Coronation Street.

    Old Trafford, Manchester United FC Stadium – Case Study

    Lifting solutions hired from GGR Group were used to help install new corporate boxes at the home of Manchester United FC, Old Trafford stadium.

    To safely fit toughened glass units into place at the Stretford End, GGR used a Glassmax 500 manual hoist, Glassboy 500 counterbalanced floor crane and P11104 Four in Line glass vacuum lifter.

    GGR’s lifting equipment has also been used at other sports venues such as Manchester Commonwealth Velodrome, Salford City Stadium and Manchester City’s new Sportcity training ground.

    Tinchy Stryder Stunt – Case Study

    A UNIC URW-506 mini spider crane and expert operator were hired from GGR Group to help create a magic stunt in Manchester’s Piccadilly Gardens featuring rapper Tinchy Stryder. Tinchy was hung upside down at a 16 metre height for ITV programme “Under Pressure”.

    GGR’s mini cranes and lifting equipment have worked at other shopping destinations in Greater Manchester such as the Arndale Shopping Centre, Spinningfields, Selfridges, Merseyway Shopping Centre in Stockport and The Trafford Centre.

    One Angel Square, The Co-Op Building – Case Study

    GGR’s versatile and compact cranes helped to build one of Europe’s most sustainable large buildings and the top BREEAM rated office in the UK, One Angel Square.

    A Starworker 1200 trailer crane and MRT2 glass vacuum lifter were hired to fit small triangular glass pieces to the rooftop of The Co-Operative’s new headquarters in central Manchester. A UNIC URW-295 mini crane was also used to install glazing inside the building’s expansive atrium.

    GGR’s compact cranes have also been used at other office buildings around Greater Manchester such as The Peninsula and Rochdale Council’s offices.

    Eccles Wastewater Treatment Works – Case Study

    A 2.9 tonne capacity UNIC URW-295 mini crane was hired by United Utilities to carry out essential maintenance work at Eccles Waste Water Treatment Works.

    The spider crane was able to work on top of the sewage filtration bed to lift a fallen beam back onto its rails. GGR’s compact crane allowed the job to be completed quickly and safely so normal operations at the wastewater treatment plant could resume as soon as possible.
