Our restricted access machinery is ideal for glazing, construction and maintenance work in busy central London where road closures are impossible. UNIC mini cranes are the world’s smallest spider cranes so are ideal for working on rooftops or inside buildings.
 
GGR can provide fully qualified operators for your lifting project and a contract lift service including lift plans and site survey performed by appointed specialists.
 
GGR has also been awarded Silver FORS accreditation from Transport for London in recognition of our good working practice in transporting our lifting solutions around the city.

    The Shard – Case Study

    A 6 tonne UNIC mini spider crane and operators hired from GGR Group spent 11 weeks working at a 283 metre height on the roof of The Shard skyscraper in central London.

    The UNIC URW-706 model was lifted up onto the 87th floor of the building by the site’s tower crane to install 440 glass panels onto the North and West facades.

    GGR’s compact cranes have also worked on other London skyscrapers such as The Leadenhall Building (“The Cheesegrater”), 20 Fenchurch Street (“The Walkie Talkie”) and St Mary’s Axe (“The Gherkin”).

    London 2012 Olympics – Case Study

    GGR’s UNIC mini cranes and lifting solutions were hired to work on a number of sporting venues for the London 2012 Olympic Games, including the Aquatics Centre, Velodrome, Lee Valley White Water Centre, Athlete’s Village and Copper Box Stadium.

    Our spider cranes were even used to lift Olympic Rings into hard-to-reach locations such as at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and on the Serpentine Bridge. GGR’s restricted access lifting solutions have also worked on other venues such as Wembley Stadium and Emirates Stadium in the past.

    Westfield Stratford City – Case Study

    GGR Group set up their own depot at the Westfield Stratford City site, Europe’s largest urban shopping complex, with a range of cranes and expert operators ready to tackle challenging construction and glazing jobs and provide technical support.

    GGR were on hand to help install over 200 glass shop fronts at the new shopping centre. During the course of the project, the depot accommodated around 30 mini cranes and vacuum lifters, 120 A-frames and 20 operators to meet demand.

    We also used the UNIC URW-706 mini crane to carefully handle Westfield Stratford City’s impressive centerpiece, the Digital Fountain.

    Our lifting equipment has been used at many other shopping destinations around London such as Westfield White City, One New Change Centre, Harrods and stores on Oxford Street, Bond Street and Regent Street.

    Kings Cross Station – Case Study

    GGR’s Network Rail approved compact cranes and PTS trained operators were often seen working at London’s Kings Cross Station during its redevelopment project.

    UNIC mini spider cranes were used for a range of lifting operations on the station’s platforms such as removing the steel Northern Access Deck, replacing bridges, removing concourse scaffolding, creating a war memorial and installing new platform clocks.

    Our range of lifting solutions have been hired for work at other major rail and London Underground stations around the city as well as for projects at Heathrow and Gatwick airports.

    RHS Chelsea Flower Show – Case Study

    GGR’s UNIC mini spider cranes have been hired by landscape architects to help create medal-winning show gardens that feature in the annual RHS Chelsea Flower Show.

    Our 2.9 tonne capacity UNIC URW-376 model has been a popular choice at the show for lifting granite slabs to create a swimming pool and planting large Cypress trees.

    GGR’s compact lifting equipment is often hired to work at popular tourist attractions around London such as The British Museum, The National Maritime Museum, V&A Museum, Tate Modern, The Royal Opera House, St James Theatre and Olympia Exhibition Centre.

    The Crystal – Case Study

    GGR helped to install 400 insulated, glazed cladding panels up to 17 metres long for The Crystal building at London’s Royal Docks using three machines from our range of cladding lifters.

    The Multi-Clad, Multi-Clad DT6 and Maxi lifters were hired to create a reflective surface on the building’s façade of this waterside structure for Siemens.

    GGR’s vacuum lifting equipment and mini cranes have worked on other landmark buildings around London’s docklands such as Canary Wharf and St George Wharf Tower.
